Then if it is for the graduate, the term would be a \"makana\" or a congratulatory gift to the person for a successful completion of the \'uniki process. As for the makana, anything would be appropriate, definitely a lei, especially a hala lei, signifying the passing from one level to another. But anything that you feel, a new ipu heke, clothes, or a hawaiian resource book. Hope this helps. Aloha Lono

Do you mean a \"makana\" for the graduate (kanaka)? Or \"ho\'okupu\" to the residing diety (akua) of the uniki? I think if that is specified it is a little less difficult to figure out. And kala mai for the long delays in any responses.....i haven\'t been on for a while. Aloha Ke\'ano:)
